Do not be surprised if you are lying on the floor, in the ambulance or in a hospital bed when a police officer decides to talk to you about an accident. How you deal with them is likely to dictate how they will deal with your accident.

If they think you are a law-abiding citizen who was driving sensibly the police are more likely to be receptive than if you decide to give them attitude. If you had an illegal number plate on your motorcycle then there is no point in denying it or asking them if they have nothing better to do. These are the people who will influence who gets prosecuted.

Often the police will have made a preliminary decision about any possible offence before they speak to you. This will not be set in stone, but you may have to do some fast-talking.
