Changing Solicitors
Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. The same is as true today as it ever was. You usually only have one shot at a case. If it is not properly prepared before the final hearing or the representation at hearings is not up to scratch you are the one who suffers the consequences.
If you are unhappy with your current solicitor, constantly having problems contacting them or never receiving a clear answers to your questions you have to consider why.
Good solicitors are usually busy solicitors. If they have too much work they may not have the time to properly work on your case. You may save money (because they are not doing any work) at the expense of your case not being properly prepared. They are there to provide a service and if you are not receiving the service you should consider going elsewhere.
If the law was simple then all lawyers would be unemployed. Just because a lawyer is good at what they do does not mean they can explain it in simple terms to a non-lawyer. There may be occasions when the issues are too complex to explain properly. However, part of a lawyer's job is to inform the client so that the client can make informed decisions. If they cannot help the cleint understand an issue then they may be unable to make a judge understand either. If the judge does not understand their point they are unlikely to win on it. If you do not understand what is going on you should ring your lawyer to discuss the matter. If you still have no idea then ring us. If we can explain the matter so you understand then you are with the wrong lawyer.
If you are unhappy you have to consider why. If you speak to your lawyer about this and nothing changes you have to consider whether you fall into Einstein's definition of insanity. Do not be dazzled by fancy offices or notepaper. Remember, you are paying for this.
You have an absolute entitlement to be represented by a solicitor of your choice. Despite this most clients will choose a solicitor based on nothing more complicated than who answers the phone. Selecting a solicitor is usually as important and significant as purchasing a car or even a house. You would expect to consider your options, check what is on the market, obtain information from the internet and then start to make contact to decide what to buy. You should be taking the same care to select a solicitor.
Emergency situations call for emergency decisions. However, decisions made in haste are usually regretted at leisure. Family matters should be addressed with dignity and you need the right lawyer to be advising. If you are unhappy with your current solicitor then please feel free to call us for a no-obligation free initial discussion on how we may be able to help you.
